No. 151.

(A. R. No. 314 of 1915.)

Minnakallu, Narasarowpet Taluk, Guntur District.

On a slab set up near the Hanuman temple.

Sadasiva, 1546 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1468, Parabhava, Jyeshtha su. 15, Saturday, corresponding to 1546 A.D. May 15.

It registers the grant of the agrahara village Minnikallu in Vinukonda-sima of Kondaviti-durga as a sarvamanya to Annamayya, son of Tallapaka Tirumalayya by the king.

Mulakalacheruvu, Madanapalli Taluk, Chittoor District.

On a slab set up in front of the Kanagondarayasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1546 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1468, Parabhava, Nija-Ashadha su. 11, Prathama-ekadasi corresponding to 1546 A.D., July 9, (Friday), ’64.

It records the gift of wet lands to God Tiruvengalanatha of Kanugonda, by Yaragangiradi, son of Mudiredi-Maramaredi of Sompalya-agrahara.

Devigudi, Jammalamadugu Taluk, Cuddapah District.

On a slab set up close to the main gopura of the Talakantamma temple.

Sadasiva, 1546 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1468, Parabhava, Nija-Ashadha ba. . . . , corresponding to 1546 A.D. July, the other details being lost.

It records a gift of the villag Turangayapalle, in Mulki-sima to Kandala Apanacharya by Mahamandalesvara Madraju China Timmayyadeva-maharaju who held the territory of Mulki-sima as nayankara from the king.

Gurijavolu, Narasarowpet Taluk, Guntur District.

On a stone set up in a street. Sadasiva, 1546 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1468, Parabhava, Sravana ba. 12, Thursday, corresponding to 1546 A.D., August 23, which was Monday.

It registers a grant of the village Goramjavrolu in Kondaviti-sima as agraharato Tallapaka Tiruvengalanthayya, son of Tirumalayya of Bharadvaja-gotra Asvalayana-sutra and Rik-sakha. The gift is said to have been made before the god Tiruvengalanatha on the bank of Svamipushkarini.

China-Ahobalam, Sirvel Taluk, Kurnool District.

On the west wall of the main shrine in the Narasimhasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1546 A.D.

This is dated, Saka 1468, Parabhava, corresponding to 1546 A.D. The details of the date are lost.

The inscription is damaged and fragmentary. It seems to record a provision made for certain offerings to the deity on some specified occasion out of the proceeds of a village obtained by him from king Achyutaraya and endowed for the purpose of the offerings by the son (name lost) of Bhutanatha Brahma-Jyoyisa of Asvalayana-sutra and Rik-sakha.

Boyala-Uppaluru, Koilkuntla Taluk, Kurnool District.

On a stone set up in front of the Chennakesavasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1469 (current), Parabhava, Magha ba. 3, Monday corresponding to 1547 A.D., February 7.

It registers the grant of their varttanas by the Vipravinodins Anantayya and Parvatayya, sons of vallabhayya of the Kasyapa-gotra, Katayayana-sutra and Sukla-Yajus-sakha for the construction of a mantapa in front of the temple of Chennakesvara at the village Malamindi-Vuppaluru alias Somasamudramu in Ghandikota-sima which was the amara of Mahamandalesvara Nandela Timmayadeva-Maharaju, for the merit of all members of the Vipravinodin community.

Gotturu, Dharmavaram Taluk, Anantapur District.

On a slab lying in front of the Hanuman temple.

Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1469, Plavanga, Sravana su. 12, corresponding to 1547, A.D., July 29, (Wednesday).

The record is fragmentary, the stone being broken and missing after the portion mentioning the name of the king and the date.

Patnam, Kadiri Taluk, Anantapur District.

On a small rock lying behind the central shrine in the Chennakesavasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

The record is dated Saka 146[9], Plavanga, Sravana ba. 8, corresponding to 1547 A.D., August 8, (Monday).

It registers the gifts of lands made to Sankirtanam Kesavayya, Sudarsanam Vobulayya and Kaluva Krishnayya in the village Patarlapalle by Mahamandalesvara Apratikamall Achyutaraju, son of Abbaraju-Vobularaju. The village Patarlapalle is said to have been included in the Patuvagulla-sima and given as umbali to the donor.

Chinna-Ahobalam, Sirvel Taluk, Kurnool District.

On the north wall of the goddess in the Naasimhasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated, Saka 1[46]9, Plavanga, Asvija ba. 7, corresponding to 1547 A.D., October 5, (Wednesday).

It records an endowment of 120 varahas into the temple treasury by Uggarasayya, son of Ramarasayya and grandson of Uggarasayya of Gudiyachelluru and belonging to the Kasyapa-gotra, Apastamba-sutra and Yajus-sakha, stipulating that the interest accruing from the amount was to be spent for offerings to god Vira-Narasimha of Ahobalam during the kshirabdhi and other festivals.

Kommuru, Bapatla Taluk, Guntur District.

On a pillar set up near the dhvaja-stambha of the Agastyesvarasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

The record is dated Saka 1470 (current), Plavanga, Kartika su. 11, Monday corresponding to 1547 A.D., October 24.

It records the remission of certain taxes that were being paid by the village accountants (karanams), Brahmanas and the dancing women of the villages Kommuru, Vorugamti, Ravipadu and Gomgulamudi belonging to the god Agastyesvara of Kommuru, by Mahamandalesvara Nalandimmaraju with a view to repopulate these villages from which these taxes were unjustly levied resulting in their desertion.

Miduturu, Nandikotkur Taluk, Kurnool District.

On a slab set up in the prakara of the Chennakeavasvamin temple. Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1469, Plavanga, Kartika su. 15, lunar eclipse, corresponding to 1547 A.D., October 28 (Friday).

Records an endowment of a single plot of land, 28 puttis and 10 tumus in extent in Miruturu in lieu of several pieces of land that belonged to the temple but lay scattered in the same village, for various services to God Chennaraya of the place by the great-grandson of Anantaraju of Atreya-gotra, and Soma-vamsa. Records, in addition, the construction of a tank (oneru) in the Kilikicherla street, the laying of a garden near it and the additional endowment of 5 tumus of land to the same deity in lieu of the space taken from the temple for the garden by the same chief.

Tangaturu, Rajampet Taluk, Cuddapah District.

On a slab set up in front of the Madanagopala temple. Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1469, Plavanga, Margasira su. 12 corresponding to 1547 A.D., November 24, (Thursday).

It seems to record the remission of taxes on barbers by Mahamandalesvara ramarajayyadeva-maharaju. Metnions Kondoju, the barber.

Chintalaputturu Near Pushpagiri, Cuddapah Taluk, Cuddapah District.

On a slab built into the outer wall in the Indranathasvamin temple. Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1469, Plavanga, Margasira ba. 5, corresponding to 1547 A.D., December 1, (Thursday).

It records that on royal orders Aliya Ramayyadeva-maharaju having exempted the tax on barbers in the Karnataka country, Mahamandalesvara Timmayyadeva-maharaju of Nandyala did the same for the whole of Ghandikota-sima, also remitted the barber tax payable by Timmoju on the villages Putturu, Ravulapalle and Dumpalagatu belonging to the Indranatha temple.

Little Kanchipuram, Kanchipuram Taluk, Chingleput District.

On the east wall of the second prakara in the Arulalaperumal temple. Sadasiva, 1547 A.D.

This is dated, Saka 1469, Plavanga, Pushya ba. 3. Thursday, corresponding to 1547 A.D., December 29.

It registers the gift of the two villages Vadakanipakam and Putturu in Kilarusima by Depati Gopinayaka for conducting the topu-tirunal festival in the month of Chaitra to god Varadaraju for the merit of Mahamandalesvara Ramaraju China-Timmayadevamaharaju.

Pedda-Ahobalam, Sirvel Taluk, Kurnool District.

On a slab set up in the courty-yard of the Narasimhasvamin temple. Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1470, Kilaka, Chaitra su. 9, Srirama-navami corresponding to 1548 A.D., March 18, (Sunday)

It registers the grant of the village Jambuladinne in Koyilakunta-sima for providing six plates of offerings to the god Ahobalesvara by Mahamandalesvara Nandyala China-Avubhalayya, son of Narasingayyadeva-maharaju and the grandson of Singarayyadeva-maharaju of Atreya-gotra and Soma-vamas for the merit of Havali Peda-Avubhala-deva-maharaju.

No. 166.

Appajipeta, Gooty Taluk, Anantapur District.

On a stone set up near the Isvara temple. Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1470, Kilaka, Vaisakha su. 11 corresponding to 1548 A.D., April 18, (Wednesday).

Seems to record a gift of land in Alaguvata in Penna-mangani in Pennakacherlasima, of Jagatapi-Gutti, to God Ramesvara of the village by Murtiraju Ramayyadeva-maharaju who is said to have been ruling Pennakacherla-sima.

Tangeda, Palnad Taluk, Guntur District.

On a slab set up in front of the deserted temple of Sitaramasvamin in the fort.

Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1470, Kilaka, vaisakha su. 15, Sunday, lunar eclipse corresponding to 1548 A.D., April 22.

It registers the grant of the village Kachavaram in Tangeda-sima to the god Lakshminrisimha at Tangeda by ……… Devachoda-maharaju, son of Mummaya-Devachoda-maharaju and the grandson of Mahamandalesvara Apratikamalla Kurucheti Somaya Devachoda-maharaju of the solar race and belonging to the Kasyapa-gotra, apastamba-sutra and Yajus-sakha at the command of Ramaraja-Vithalayadeva Maharaju who is said to have conferred the Tangeda-sima as nayankara the donor.

No. 168.

(A. R. No. 475 of 1915.)

Santaravuru, Bapatla Taluk, Guntur District.

On a stone set up outside the Chennakesavasvamin temple. Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1467, Kilaka, Ashadha su. 1, Thursday. Saka 1467 appears to be a mistake for 1470 as the cyclic year Kilaka correspond with the latter. With this correction, the date may be equated to 1548 A.D., June 7.

It registers the remission of the taxes on the barbers of Gopinathapatnam as also of the villages of Vinukonda, Bellamkonda, Addanki, Ammanambrolu, etc., by Murti Ramaraju, agent of Ramarajayya, who was the representative of the king. The remission is stated have been made by the above officer under the authority of the king and Ramarajayya.

No. 169.

(A. R. No. 63 of 1915.)

Chinna-Ahobalam, Sirvel Taluk, Kurnool District.

On the west wall of the Narasimhasvamin temple. Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1469, Kilaka, Ashadha su. 11. If the Saka year is a mistake for 1470, the details correspond to 1548 A.D., June 16, (Saturday).

States that Narasamma, wife of Mahamandalesvara Gobur Vobaya of Kasyapa-gotra and Yajus-sakha, having constructed a vasanta-mandapa to the north of Diguva-Tirupati, endowed 120 varahas to the temple for conducting, out of the interest thereon the festivals in honour of the god Ahobalesvara in that mandapa. Narasingaraju, Narasaraju, Timmaraju, and another, name not mentioned, the four sons of the donar, were to supervise the proper conduct of the festivals enjoined in the gift deed.

No. 170.

Chilvuru, Tenali Taluk, Guntur District.

On a pillar set up before the Madanagopalasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1470, Kilaka, Margasira su. 11, Thursday corresponding to 1548 A.D., November 11. The weekday, however, was Sunday.

This incomplete record stops after mentioning the name of the king.

Vadigepalli, Hindupur Taluk, Anantapur District.

On a slab set up in front of the Chennakesavasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1548 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1470, Kilaka, Pushya ba. 15 corresponding to 1548 A.D., December 30, (Sunday).

It registers a gift of money to the deities Somesvara and Chennakesava of the village Vodigipalli by Suraparaju Narasaraju for the merit of the twenty four families of the dommari community to which he apparently belonged.

No. 172.

Little Kanchipuram, Kanchipuram Taluk, Chingleput District.

On the east wall of the second prakara in the Arulalaperumal temple.

Sadasiva, 1549 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1471, Saumya, Nija-vaisakha ba. 3, Tuesday, corresponding to 1549 A.D. May 14.

In the grant portion it is mentioned that the gift was made on the occasion of the lunar eclipse which occurred on su. 15 in the previous month (Adhika-Vaisakha) corresponding to April 12, (Friday).

It records a gift of a plot of land after purchasing it from sthanam Uddanadaraya for 15 varahas and incurring an expense of 25 varahas towards converting it into a flower garden for supply of garlands to god Varadaraju by Mahamandalesvara Vallabhayyadeva-maharaju, son of Ramarayani-Varadaraju of Atreya-gotra, Apastamba-sutra and Soma-vamsa in the name of his mother Krishnamma. The plot of land was made over to Narasayya son of Sankirtana Ramanujayya stipulating that he should maintaining the garden and supply garlands to the god in the name of the donor’s mother Krishnamma. Also records the grant of the village Chitinanjeri in Polluri-sima, the nayankara territory of Chinna-Timmarajayya, for maintaining out of the income thereof, the flower gradient and the topu-tirunal of the diety.

Jillella, Proddatur Taluk, Cuddapah District.

On a slab set up near a water course by the side of the road. Sadasiva, 1549 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1471, Saumya, Ashadha su. 11, corresponding to 1549 A.D., July 5, (Friday).

It records a gift of the income derived out of the kanike and other taxes collected in Jillella, a gift village of Ahobala Narasimhadeva temple, to god Virabhadra at Jillela, by Mahamandalesvara Chinna Timmaraju Kondayyadeva Maharaju, for the parapu and paruventa festivals.

Chinna-Ahobalam, Sirvel Taluk, Kurnool District.

Round the platform of the huge pillar (jayastambha) in the Narasimhasvamin temple.

Sadasiva, 1550 A.D.

This is dated Saka 14[72] (current), Saumya, Phalguna su. 3, corresponding to 1550 A.D., February 19, (Wednesday).

It registers the gift of a piece of land in the village Alamuru purchased from Van Sathagopa-Jiyya and other officials connected with the management of the temple, for raising a garden with coconut and other trees, in favour of god Ahobalesvara by Avubhalraju, son of Timmayadeva-maharaju of Gargya-gotra, Apastamba-sutra and Yajus-sakha.

Chitrachedu, Gooty Taluk, Anantapur District.

On a slab in the compound of the mosque. Sadasiva, 1550 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1473 (current), Sadharana, Ashadha su. 10 corresponding to 1550 A.D., June 23, (Monday).

This fragmentary record mentions the pontiff Santabhikshavritti Ayyavaru and his three spiritual sons, the Narapati, Asvapati and Gajapati kings who seem to have made some gifts to god Mallikarjuna of Srisaila worshipped by them.
