APPENDIX F

F.—Principal dates from Appendix E calculated with the help of the Indian Ephemeris.—cont.

Number
of inscription.

Details of dates with their English equivalents and remarks.

RATTA.
Mahamaṇḍalēśvara Kāriavīrya.

55

Śaka 1009, Prabhava, Śrāvaṇa, amāvāsye, Sunday, solar eclipse.
=A.D. 1087, August 1, Sunday, solar eclipse.

Mahāmaṇḍalēśvara Lakshmidēvarasa.

60

Śaka 1151, Sarvadbārin, Āshāḍha ; amāvāsye, Monday, full solar eclipse =A.D. 1228, July 3, Monday. There was a full solar eclipse on this day. The Śaka year quoted in the record was current.

VIJAYANAGARA.
Vīra-Bukkarāya.

130

Śaka 1290, Kīlaka, Vaiśākha, ba. 30, Monday, solar eclipse, saṅkrānti, Vyatīpāta. Irregular. In the given year, Vaiśākha amāvāsyā fell on A.D. 1368, May 17, Wednesday (not Monday). There was nei her solar eclipse nor saṅkrānti on this day, as quoted in the record. But in the next year, Saumya, there was a solar eclipse on Jyēshṭha, ba. 30. corresponding to Monday, at ∙14 and lasted till∙11 of Tuesday, 5th June A.D. 1369, when there occurred a solar eclipse. In this case the month quoted in the record would be a cording to the Purṇimānta system. The saṅkrānti had, however, occurred in the previous month, on Saturday, 26th May.

142

Śaka 1290, Kīlaka, Āshāḍha śu. 1, Sunday. In Kīlaka (Śaka 1290) the given tithi fell on A.D. 1368, June 16, Friday (not Sunday). But in the previous year i.e. Plavaṅga (Śaka 1289) the details would
regularly correspond to A.D. 1367, May 30, Sunday. If this is the intended date of the record, the Śaka year quoted would be current and the cyclic year a mistake for Plavaṅga.

Harihara, son of Bukka.

127

Śaka 1[3]09, Prabhava, [Mārgaśira], . . . . lunar eclipse, Monday, saṅkramaṇa, Vyatipāta. =A.D. 1387, November 25, Monday. The Dhanus-saṅkramaṇa occurred two days later, i.e., on Wednesday, 27th November.

Dēvarāya-Mahārāya.

33

Śaka 1334, Nandana, Mārgaśira, śu. 2, Sunday =A.D. 1412, November 6, Sunday ; ∙61.

Sadāśivarāya-Mahārāya.

17

Śaka 14[6]9, Plavaṅga, Āśvija, śu. 12, Monday =A.D. 1547, September 26, Monday  ; ∙43.

120

Śaka 1474, Parīdhāvin, Śrāvaṇa, śu. 1, Friday =A.D. 1552, July 22, Friday ; ∙56.

121

Śaka 1494, Prajāpati, Vaiśākha, ba. 14, Tuesday =A.D. 1571, May 22, Tuesday ; ∙65. The Śaka year quoted was current.

MISCELLANEOUS.
Alli[dha]vala Pātaśāhi-Voḍeya.

53

Śaka 1497, Dhātu, Māgha, ba. 30, Monday =A.D. 1576, January 30, Monday ; ∙95. The cyclic year however was Yuva.

6

(1) Śaka 969 (in words), [Chāḷukya]-Vikrama year 2, Piṅgala, Āshāḍha, śu. 12, Wednesday =A.D. 1077, July 5, Wednesday ; ∙67.
(2) Śaka 1000, Kāḷayukta, Madhumāsa (Chaitra), amāvāsyā, Sunday. Probably A.D. 1078, April 14, Saturday (not Sunday) ; ∙90.
