Panipat.─Jāmi ‘ Masjid of Bābur. Over the main gate.

Much damaged. States that the mosque, the well and four gardens were constructed during the reign of emperor Bābur the gold-bestower, at the instance of Khwāja Pahlawān Muḥammad, son of Ḥasan. The name of the dārāgha (Superintendent) has peeled off. Text composed by Shihāb.

Fragmentary. The extant portion contains part of the Throne Verse (Qurān, ch. II. V. 225) and the words, ‘the construc tion of the mosque of his Majesty, the pole-star of
the lesser firmament. Zahīru’d Dīn Muḥammad BāburGhāzī. , may his kingdom and sovereignty last for ever, and may his affair prosper ………………… Obviously contemporaneous with the previous epigraph.

Records the construction of a mosque, during the reign of Jalālu’d Dīn Muḥammad, probably by Qāḍī Aḥmad. The date is obtained by adding 5 to the numerical value of the name Qāḍī Aḥmad as indicated in the chronogram. See Epigraphia Indica, Vol. II, p. 142.

Sates that during the reign of the emperor. Zahīrud Dīn Muḥammad Bāhur Ghāzī,  the humble Khān Yūsuf Āghā, son of Shaikh Yūsuf, inhabitant of Ḥisār-i-Shādmān (in Transox iana), constructed the mosque in the town of Maham. (See also Epigraphia Indica, Vol. II, p. 148).

States that this building of the fort and the gate of the town of Nangānwa which had fallen in ruins with the lapse of time and passing of years, were constructed anew during the reign of Buhlūl Shāh the king, and during the governorship of
Masuad-i-’ Āli ‘Alāwal Khān by Jalāl. (son of) Zakariyya, (son of) Aḥmad, (son of) Jalāl on 22nd Dhi‘l Qa’da and were completed in Muharram of the following year.
