YALVAR, BAGEVADI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

On a slab built into the compound wall of the Somesvara temple

1557 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1479 Pingala, Vaisakha, ba. 5, Sunday, Mula-nakshatra, corresponding to 1557 A.D., April 18.

It records the constructiohn of a step-well called Soma-tirtha in the southe-eastern corner of the Somesvara temple by Chenna-Basavantaraya.  This Chenna-Basavantaraya is described as the grandson of Naganayaka of Pakanati-kula, cief of Yalavara in the region of Vijayapura.  The construction was undertaken with the approval of Ramana-nayaka who was the junior uncle of the donor and administrative head of the place.

HUYILGOL, GADAG TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a slab built into the platform of the Kalamesvara temple

1563 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1484, Dundubhi, Pushya su. 15, Saturday, lunar eclipse corresponding to 1563 A.D., January 9.

It records the restoration of the gift of land in favour of the god Mulasthana Kalinatha or Kallayyadeva of Hulagola by Mutyapa, the Parupatyagra of the place, for the merit of Virappa-nayaka.  The various services to be maintained out of the income from the gift are enumerated in detail.

ALNAVAR, DHARWAR TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a slab set up in a field of the Lingayata-matha

1565 A.D.

This is dated Saka 1478, Krodhana, Asvija ba. 14.  The Saka year cited appears to be mistake for 1487, as Krodhana coincided with the latter date.  With this correction the details may be equated to 1565 A.D., October 14.

It records the death by the rite of sallekhana of Chikkamallisetti of Hubballi, after fasting for 21 days.

On a stone in front of the Udachavva temple

It seems to record some legendary account of the deity Udiche who is said to have taken human form in a female devotee bearing the name.

MULGUND, GADAG TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a pillar in the Parsvanatha temple

Ciraca 16th century

It states that the Jaina preceptor Sahasrakirti, disciple of Lalitakirti, of Desigana, Pustaka-gachchha and Hanasoge-anvaya, stayed unshaken inside the Parsvanatha Jinalaya which was set on fire by the Mohammadans and was burnt to death.  He thus vindicated the greatness of the Jaina faith.

It states that the village Umachigi was also called Sadasivaraya-samudra.

RON, RON TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a stone set up in front of the hanuman temple near the Dharmasala

Ciraca 16th century

This is dated the cyclic year Krodhi, Margasira, su. 15.  The details cannot be verified. 

It records the confirmation of an earlier gift of land to Narasikhadesa, son of Godasala Kondadasa for the worship of the god Hanumanta.  The gift was confirmed by Malarsaya wo was the agent of Immadi Manvanayaka of th Gujala family of Kushtige and Parupatyagara of Badavi-sime.

On a stone near a public well outside the village

Ciraca 16th century

It refers to a construction, probably of the well, by Jangamaya Somagaunda, son of Murarinatha-nayaka.

YAONGAL, RON TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a stone built into the weall of eh backyard of Hire-matha

Ciraca 16th century

It records a gift of land in Huvinahadagile to Narahari-bhatta, son of Chimmarasa, of Visvamitra-gotra and Rik-sakha.

GAJENDRAGAD, RON TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On the stone gate leading to the fort

Ciraca 16th century

It refers to the regime of Hajarata Nababa and cites the date San 76, Hijara, Plava.  The record falls approximately in the 16th century.

It states that the gate and the bastion of the fort were caused to be made by Muraraje, Nilage, the officer-in-charge.

MUNDARGI, MUNDARGI TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a stone bearing two footprints in the court-yard of the Siva temple on the hillock

Ciraca 16th century

It seems to register a gift by certain officers and representatives of different some munities.  The epigraph is incomplete.

It seems to record a gift of money to Chika-Virapa.  The epigraph is damaged and the details including the date are lost.

On a pillar in the mandapa of the Nagesvara temple

Ciraca 16th century

It records a fixed monthly gift of money for offerings to the deity Durga-Paramesvari by the Mahajanas.

On the stone door-frame of the village gate

Ciraca 16th century

The inscription which is damaged mentions Mahamandalesvara Narasarajayya.  It seems to record a gift of land.

CHIKKA-ADAPUR, HUNGUND TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

On a stone set up in front of the Hanuman temple

Ciraca 16th century

It seems to record a gift to a god by Echami-nayaka and another gift to Kulakarani Timmarasa.  The record is damaged.

BADAMI, BADAMI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

On a boulder in the by-path at the right of the passage leading up to the northern fort.

Ciraca 16th century

This is dated the cyclic year Kro[dhana], Magha su. 10. The date cannot be verified.

It seems to record the construction of a fort by Baiyyapendra.  It mentions Krishna-bhupati.  The epigraph is badly damaged.

On a pillar in a shrine of Siva by the side of the Bhutanatha temple

It states that (the pillar ) was a gift of Tirumale, son of Janappa of Homganur.

On a slab lying on the road to Gavankop at a distance of half a mile

It states that it is the north-eastern boundary stone bearing the figure of linga

DHANAKA-SIRUR, BADAMI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

On a stone lying on the way to Manneri about a furlong from the village

Ciraca 16th century

This is dated the cyclic year Paridhavi, Magha su. 11.  The details cannot be verified.

It seems to record a gift of land by Timmarasa, the Nada-gauda of Danakasiruura when Kona-Rachayya was administering the tract.

BELVATIGI, NAVALGUND TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a slab lying in Survey No. 117

Ciraca 16th century

It records the construction of a tank by the sons of Senabova Lakana, who received a gift of land and house-site for the work done.  The epigraph is damaged in the beginning.

HALKUSUGAL, NAVALGUND TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

On a slab set up near the Hirematha

Ciraca 16th century

It seems to state that the land bearing the stone belonged to the Hire-matha of Nauvalgunda (i.e. modern Navalgund).
