Slab in field near the Dodda-masuti

A.D. 600(?)

This inscription is dated in Saka 522, Kalayukta, Margasira su. 2 Monday.  Dr. Fleet who remarks that the date is not authentic gives the equivalent as A.D. 600, November 13, which was a Sunday and not Monday.

This record which refers to Mahamandatadhipati Santivarma of the Matura family as governing Banavasi Twelve-thousand with the (river) Varade as the boundary, narrates a conversation with the maidens of Palarur when Santivarma visited the village and demanded grass for his horses and elephants.

This fragmentary record of about the 7-8th century A.D. seems to register a gift of gosasa made by Ammakirti.

Stone standing in S.No. 155 near (the temple called) Chitalavanagudi

A.D. 778-79

This short inscription dated in Saka 700 corresponding to A.D. 778-79 records that the figures of Sankhanidhi, Sriyadevi and Padmanidhi were carved by Mukundovaja, Anumanakusala and Budovaja.  The three figures are sculptured in relief above the inscription.

Broken stone near the Dodda-masuti

This fragment of an inscription seems to record some grant made by Machagamunda and others when Senamallara Kannamma was the nalgamunda of Basavur Hundred-and-forty.  The record belongs to about the 8th century A.D.

Stone in S. No. 393

This inscription in characters of about the 8th century A.D., states that when Sr Mara was governing the nadu a hero named Govinda died in a cattle-raid.  The woman named Binnapoti erected the memorial stone which was engraved by Gunarga.

This fragment of a damaged record seems to record a gift of land to a deity.  Malavalli (village?) and Mada-gamunda are mentioned. The characters are of about the 8th century A.D.

This damaged inscription in characters of about the 8-9th century A.D. records the death of a hero.  The names Vasa and Aneya are found.

This inscription of about 8-9th century A.D. records the erection of a menti by Ponnamara and another person. Singeyara Vinaka (Vinayaka) made it.

This inscription written in characters of about the 8-9th century A.D. records a git of land and gosasa by Mulkadara Marapuli.

Stone lying in front of the Venkatesh Bank

A.D. 859-60

This inscription dated in Saka 781, corresponding to A.D. 859-60, records the grant of land made to Nagula-Basadi, constructed by Nagulara Pollabbe.  The gift was made in the preseneof the Urgamundas.  The recipient of the gift was Naganandyacharya of Simghavura-gana.  The village Attigeri is mentioned.

This record of about the 9th century A.D. states that when Kattiyara “was ruling the earth’’, Dosi, who was governing Banavasi Twelve-thousand remitted on the occasion of an eclipse, a portion of the tax of Sangamur, after washing the feet of the mahajanas of Mugunda.

Stone learning against the back wall of the temple of Kittada Hanuman

The purport of this damaged record is not clear.  The names, Parasurama and Indra are found.  A certain Dora seems to have erected the stone.

The characters are of about 9th century A.D.

Stone on the tank bund

Only the imprecatory portion of a bigger record is preserved on this stone. It is stated to have been composed by Konnayya.  The copyist’s name is lost.  The engraver’s name is given as Nagoja.  

The characters are of about 9th century A.D.

This short inscription records the death of a hero named Balmachha.  The characters are of about the 9th century A.D.

This damaged record in characters of about the 9th century A.D. commemorates the death of a person (name lost) in a cattle-raid.

This hero-stone written in characters of about eh 9-10th century A.D. is badly damaged and worn out.  It seems to record the death of a hero.

This inscription states that when Pokkuli was governing Banavasi Twelve-thousand and Chelliga was the nalgamunda a hero (name lost) died a cattle-raid.  Kasi-[do]ndara Sri (Si)riyamma is mentioned.  

The record belongs to about the 10th century A.D.

This fragmentary record refers to the construction of a temple and a grant made to it.  It is engraved in characters of about the 10 the century A.D.

Pillar in Survey No. 39

This record in characters of about the 10th century A.D. mentions a certain Rajasi[mga] as administering Punnamanti-nadu (modern Honnatti).  It is badly damaged and broken.

This fragmentary record seems to register a grant of land made to a Jaina basadi.  Chandranandai-bhattara, Indara-Pittama and his Senabova Kundamayya are mentioned.  

The characters belong to about the 10th century A.D.

This hero-stone of about the 10th century A.D. commemorates the death of a hero (name lost), who was the grandson of Lokeya-Pergade.

This fragmentary and damaged record seems to describe the valour of a hero (name lost). The divisions of Kadambalige and Ganga-mandala are mentioned.  

The characters belong toe the 10-11th century A.D.

Hero-stone in front of the temple of Hanuman

This damaged hero-stone seems to record the death of Padevala Ereyamma and a grant of land made in his memory.  The characters belong to the 10-11th century A.D.
