VIṬLA, PUTTUR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Bali-pīṭha of the pañchaliṅgēśvara temple

1630 A.D.

       It states that the bali-piṭha in the temple of pañchaliṅgadēva was a gift of Mañjaṇṇa-seṭṭi of Kukke.

       It is dated the cyclic year Pramōdūta, Vriśchika 1, Sunday. On palaegraphical grounds the record may be assigned to the 17th century, and the details equated to 1630 A.D., October 31.

SURĀLA, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Stone built into the Hirē-balikallu in the Mahāliṇgēśvaara temple

1644 A.D.

       It states that the balikallu is a gift to the temple of Mahāliṇgadēva of Surāla by a person (name not clear) who probably attachaed to the bhaṇḍāra (treasury) of Chineya arasa Toḷaha.

       It is dated Śaka 1566 [Tā]raṇa, Kārttika śu., the tithi being lost. The date falls somtime in October-November of 1644, A.D.,
