14        ರ್ಮ್ಮೇನ ಜಾನಾತಿ ನರಸ್ಯವ್ರಿತ್ತಂ [||*] ದಾನಪಾಲನರ್ಯೋರ್ಮಧ್ಯೇ ದಾನಾಛ್ರೇಯೋ
            ನ್ರುಪಾಲನಂ [|*]ದಾನಸ್ವರ್ಗಮವಾಪ್ನೋತಿ ಪಾಲನಾದಚ್ಯುತಂಪದಂ |ಯಿಂತಪ್ಪದಕ್ಕೆ
            ಬಂಕೆಯರಸರವೊಪ್ಪ ಕಾಂಚನ ಅಂಣಯ್ಯ ಸೇನಬೋವನ ಬರ –

15        ಹ | ಯಿ ಸರ್ವ್ವಸ್ವವನೂ ಬಾಳೆಯ ಮುರುಡೇಶ್ವರ ಭಟ್ಟರಮಗ ಶಂಖರನಾರಾಯಣ
            ಭಟ್ಟರು ತಾಉ ಬದ್ದು ಹಟ್ಟಿಯಂಗಡಿಯ ಲೋಕನಾಥದೇವರ ಸಂನಿಧಿಯಲುಉಪುಕಲ್ಲ
            ಮಠಕ್ಕೆ ಧಾತಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಮಾಘ ಬ 3 ಲೋಕನಾಥ ದೇ –

16 ವರ ಅರ್ರಾ [ಟ್ಟೆ]ದ ದಿವಸದಲ್ಲೂ ಅ ಉಪ್ಪುಕಲ್ಲ ಮಠದ ಧರ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ
ಧಾರೆಯನೆರ್ರದು ಬಿಟ್ಟರು

VIṬLA, PUTTUR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Stone water-cistern by the road-side

1572-73 A.D.

This record dated. Śaka 1493, Prajōtpatti Ve. śu. 5, Sunday, states that the waterâtrough was set up by Kuuṁñidēvarasa alias Doṁba-heggaḍe to secure merit. The details of date correspond to 1571 A.D., April 29, the month obviously being Vaiśākha.

1 ಶ್ರೀಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ನಮಃಸ್ತುಂಗ ಶಿರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿತ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ ತ್ರಇಲೋಕ್ಯ
ನಗರಾರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ

2 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ವಿಜಯಾದ್ಭುದಯ ಶಾಲಿವಾಹನ ಷಕವರುಷ 1493 ಸಂದುವರ್ತಮಾನ
ಪ್ರಜೋತ್ಪತ್ಯ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ವೆ² ಶುಧ 5 ರವಿವಾರದಲ್ಲು ಶ್ರೀಮ-

3 ತು ವಿಠಲದ ಕು ದೇವರಸರಾದ ದೊಂಬಹೆಗಡೆಯರು ತಮಗೆ ಪುಂಣ್ಯವಾಗ
ಬೇಕೆಂದು ಗೋ[ಉ] ಗಳು ಉದಕವಕೊಂಬ . .ಡಿಸಿ ಹಾಕಿದಕಲ್ಲು . .

4 ಗಿಯನು ತೆಗದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದವರಿಗೆ ಕಾಶಿಯಲಿ ಸಾವಿರ ಕಪಿಲೆಯಂ ಕೊಂದ
ಪಾಪವೆಂದು ಬರದಸಾಸನಾಂಕಿತ . ಶುಭಮಸ್ತು

This fragmentary record refers to Śaka 149[5], Āṅgi[rasa*], all other details being lost. The Śaka year corresponds to 1572-73 A.D., being current.
