TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

ŚRĪRAṄGAM, TRICHINOPOLY TALUK, TRICHINOPOLY DISTRICT

East wall of the second prākāra of the Raṅganāthaswami temple

1502 A.D.

This record registers a gift of land made after purchase for 25 varāhas, for supplying garlands, coconuts, betel-leaves etc, to the god by Chikka Narasaṇa-nāyaka, son of a nāyaka

It is dated the cyclic year Dundubhi, Karttika su. 15, Wednesday, lunar eclipse. On palaeographical grounds it may be assigned to about the 15th century. The details probably correspond to 1502 A.D., October 15, when the lunar eclipse occurred a Saturday.

          ಕಾಲದಲಿ ನಾಯಕರ ಕೊಮಾರಚಿಕ್ಕನರಸಣನಾಯಕರು ಶ್ರೀರಂಗದೇವರಿಗೆ
          ಹೊವಿನದಂತಡೆ ಕಾಯಿತುಪ್ಪಯಲಿ |[ತಮಚ್ಚನಮ್ಮುರಗೆ] . . . . .

2        ಮೇಲೋಗರ ಬಾಳೆಹಂಣು ಠೆಂಗಿನಕಾಯ . ಸೇವೆಗೆ ಪಯಿರು ಮಾಡುಉದಕ್ಕೆ
          ಕ್ರಮವಾಗಿ ಯಿಪ್ಪತ್ತಅಯಿದು ವರಹಗೆ ಕೊಂಡ [ಸ್ತ]ಳವ ಯಿನೂ . ಕೊಟ್ಟುದು .

KURIJILI, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT

North side of the boulder near the Veṇkatēśvara temple

1530 A.D.

This record is a lease deed of lands situated in the village of Guṇḍlahalli belonging to the temple of Kadiri Nārasiṁhadēva of Muḷuvāgila, excluding from them the area given as dasavanda, made ever by Viṭhaya and Kuppaya, son-in-law of Anantappa, the sthānikas of the temple, to Nārasiṁhadēva of Rāmasamudra.

It is dated the cyclic year Rudhirōdgārin, Jyēshṭha ba. 12, Wednesday. On palaeographical grounds, the record may be assigned to the 16th century when the details regularly correspond to 1503 A.D., June 21, which appears to be the intended date.
