KAKKUÑJE, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Broken slab (No. 2) built into east wall of the central shrine of
Mahāliṅgēśvara temple

Circa 15th century

This fragmentary record refers to a gift of land, money and oil, probably made to a god, the details of which are all lost. It refers to god Mahāliṅga.

Slab (No. 1) set up in the inner prākāra ofMahāliṅgēśvaratemple

Circa 15th century

This record, badly damaged in the beginning, registers a gift of land to god Mahādēva by Aṇṇa Kalukūra. Iśvari, daughter of Mudavariya Rāma was entrusted to fetch the rice to the temple. Bemmaṇañcha Toḷaha is referred to as one of the witnesses to the gift.
