TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 173 of 1933-34)

RAMASAMUDRAM, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT

North wall of Janardanasvami temple

1479 A.D.

It registers a gift of land situated below the tank at Rāmasamudram, for offerings to god Janardanadeva by Chikka Timmaraja, son of Timmaraja, for the merit of Narasiṅgarāja-voḍeya.

It is dated Śaka 1401, Vikāri, Kārttika śu, 12, which details are insufficient for verification. The tithi corresponds to 1479 A.D., October 27.

1         ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ವಿಜೆಯಾಂದ್ಭುದಯ ಶಾಲಿವಾಹನ ಶಕವರುಷ 1401 ನೆಯ
           ವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನ ವಿಕಾರಿ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಕಾರ್ತ್ತಿಕ ಶು 12 ಪುಂಣ್ಯಕಾಲದಲು
           ರಾಮಸಮುದ್ರದ ಜನಾರ್ದನದೇವರ ಅಮೃತ

2         ಪಡಿಗೆ ನರಸಿಂಗರಾಜ ವೊಡೆಯರಿಗೆ ಧರ್ಮವಾಗಬೇಕು ಎಂದು [ತಿ]೦ಮರಾಜಗಳ
           ಮಕ್ಕಳು ಚಿಕ್ಕಿತಿಂಮರಾಜಗಳು ಉಥ್ತಾಸದ್ವಾದಶಿ ಪುಂಣ್ಯಕಾಲದಲು ಧಾರೆಯನೆಱದು

UPPUNDA, COONDAPOOR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 2) set up in the prākāra of the Durgā-Paramēśvarī temple

1482 A.D.

This damaged record registers a gift of land for the maintenance of the piper playing during the śrībali service in the temple of Durgā-Paramēśvarī at Uppugunda by Parasu-heggaḍe, nephew (? aḷiya) of Aṇṇasāvanta.

It is dated Śaka 1405, Śubhakṛit, | Kārttika śu. 5, Thursday], corresponding to 1482 A.D., October 17.
