PUṄGANŪR, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT

Slab lying in the Liṅgāyata-maṭha

Veṅkaṭapatirāya, 1542 A.D.

This badly damaged record is dated Śaka 4565, Chitrabhānu, Āśvija śu. 5. The Śaka year given is obviously a mistake for 1465, The tithi corresponds to 1542 A.D., September 14. The Śaka year would be current.

It seems to register a gift to a deity, probably by Immaḍi Chikarāya, son of Chikarāya-Tammaya-gauḍa of Sugaṭūru for the merit of his parents.
