TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 246 of 1930-31)

KUḌMĀR, PUTTUR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Two Slabs lying in the Pañchaliṅgēśvara temple

Dēvarāya II, 1440 A.D.

This badly engraved record is dated Śaka 1364 (current), Raudri Āshaḍha śu. 1, Tuesday. The cyclic year given corresponds to Śaka 1362 (1363 current), when the details agree with 1440, A.D., May 31.

It registers a gift of provisions to a feeding house for feeding brāhmaṇas by Rāmarasa who was governing Kaḍaba-rājya. It states that Aṇṇappa was governing Bārakūru and Maṅgaḷūru-rājyas, under the orders of mahāpradhāna Achaṇṇa-daṇṇāyaka.

1 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಪತಯೇನಮ ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ –

2 ಗ ಶಿರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರ ಚಾ –

3 ರವೇ ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾರಂಭ

4 ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ

5 ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾಭ್ಯುದಯ ಶಾ –

7 ಸಂದು ವತ[೯]ಮಾನ ರಊದ್ರಿ ಸ –
