Tirunedungalam, Lalgudi Taluk, Tiruchirappalli District

South wall of the Somaskanda shrine in the same temple.

Saka 1386, Subhanu, Tai=1464 A. D., January.

This inscription records that a certain Arasan alias Vallaladevar caused the Nayakar Arangu-mandapam (Ranga-Mandapa) to be built and made a gift of ¼ nilam and a house in the western street for food-offerings to the deity (Kalandai Nayakar). It is stated that the gift was a tirunamattukkani. The name of the village is not, however, mentioned.

On a pillar lying by the road-side of the village.

Saka 1403, Plava, Vaisakha su. 15, Thursday=1481 A. D.,

 April 14.  The weekday was Saturday.

It records the grant of lands for the Deva Brahmanas and as bhata-vritti to the karanika by Sri Minugu Malla at Cherlogudipadu in Gurimdala-sima which belonged to his nayamkara, for the merit of his grandfather Channenimgaru, father Chitnenimgaru and uncle Komdamanayanimgaru.

On a slab built into the platfrom of the flag-staff in the Venugopalasvami temple.

Saka 1576, Jaya, Magha su. 11=1655 A. D. February 6 (Tuesday) 

It records the construction of a court-yard for the temple of Madana Gopala at Gudipadu and setting up of a lamp-pillar 9tiruvalike-kambha) by China Yallimaraju of Charikonda, who is the son of Timmaraju and grandson of Chinakrishnamaraju belonging to Atreya-gotra for the merit of his father Timmaraju and mother Machamma. A Telugu verse at the end eulogises in praise of the donor’s father.

Kampayadeva-maharaja, son of Antambarakanda-vallam-raja.

Nala, Tai 6 : C. 15th century.

This inscription is damaged slightly.

It records that the ruler converted his jivitam village of Kadayakkudi in Vadakavi-nadu in Pandikulasani-valanadu into Kambarasan-sandhi service in the temple of the god Tirunedungalam-udaiya-nayanar set up in Nilalarsolai. It also records that the gift also included provision for madappuram service to the mudaliyar.

West wall of the same shrine.

Saka 1425, Rudhirodgarin, Tai 1, Sankramana=1503 A. D.

December 28 (Thursday).

This inscription is damaged and incomplete. 

It records are-grant of land in Vangaram alias Devarayan-eri in Misangili-nadu, previously granted by a certain Tirumalaichchamantanar, by [ . . .] Iragutta Mindsa[ . . ] vikku Parivalanginan Kuttinanakaikku Ali-ittan Tiyagavachariyan Avudaiyanayinar alias Pagamadattich-chamantan of Valambakudi to the temple of Tirunedungalam-udaiya Tambiranar, also called Nilalarsolaivanam-udaiya-nayanar. It is stated that the gift was intended for food-offerings and the mahapujai, repairs and festivals in the temple.

Slab set up in front of the gopura of the same temple.

Krishnaraja-Vadeya of Mahisuru ruling at Srirangapattana. S. 1678,

Kali 4857, Dhatri=1756 A.D. 

This incomplete inscription records that Sankarayya, son of Madanayya and grandson of Mdayya who is the son of Virayya and an officer (gurikara) at Coimbatore and a karyakarta of dalavayi Devarajayya, an agent of the king in this part of the country, is stated to have carried out the renovation of the temples at Avinasi including the manadapas, the gopuras, the prakara walls, the paved flooring (nelakattu) and the tank for the floating festival (teppakola).  He is also stated to have set up a Panchalinga called Samkaresvara in the south-east corner of the prakara of Avinasisvira temple here.  Also it registers a grant of land made after purchase, to the above deity for the maintenance of lamp and worship.  The details of grant land are not given in the record.
