KAPPANIMBARGI, INDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Broken Nandi pillar lying in front of the temple of Hanuman

Singhana—A. D. 1243

This This damaged and fragmentary record is dated Saka [116]5, Sobhakrit, Ashadha.MondMonday, Dakshinayana---Samkranti. The tithi is lost. The details correspond to A.D. 1243, July 27, Monday.  The Samkramana occurred on the following day.

The inscription seems to record gift of a village (name lost) made for the benefit of the temple of Kapilasiddha [Mallikarjunadeva} of Sonnalige by Mahapradhana Madhavadeva-nayaka and his son Kesavadeva-nayaka governing  from rajadhani Ummade.

KALKERI, SINDGI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab in the temple called Mallayyana Gudi Singhana---A. D. 1244

This record is dated Saka 1167, Krodhi, Bhadrapade, su. 14, Sunday. The date Is irregular. Taking the Saka year to be current (Krodhin), the tithi corresponds to 1244 A. D., August 18.  The week day was Thursday and not Sunday as stated in the record.  

This long inscription gives the genealogy of Singhana and records gifts of lands and House-site by pradhani Malla, Bichana and his sun Payisetti, for the benefit of the Temple of Ananta-Trithakara at Kalukere in Hagaritage-nadu constructed by Payisetti, at the instance of his guru Kamalasena-bhattaraka. Payisetti, who is stated to Be the son of Nakisetti, was given in adoption to Bichana.

Hagaritage-nadu, Kalukere, Bichana and his exploits, Payisetti and his Brothers are all described at length.

BIJAPUR, BIJAPUR TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab (No. 46 ) in the Archaeological Museum Singhana—A. D. 1245

This badly damaged and effaced record is dated Saka 1166, Krodhi, Magha, ba, The tithi being lost. It corresponds to A. D. 1245. It refers to a certain Mahamandalesvara. All other details are lost.

ALGUR, JAMKHANDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab built into the wall of the Kalamesvara temple Singhana—A. D. 1245

This records is dated in the king’s regnal year 41, Visvavasu, Vaisakha, su. 14 Wednesday, corresponding to A. D. 1245, April 12, Wednesday.

The inscription records a gift of provisions to god Mallikarjuna by the Mahajanas and others. The name of the place is partially preserved as... Gurava, which is in all probability Alagurava.

LAKSHMESVAR, SHIRHATTI TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Slab built into the wall in the Taluk Office Singhana—A. D. 1247

This damaged record is dated Saka 1169, Plavange, Amavasya, corresponding to A.D. 1247, June 4, which was a Tuesday.

This inscription states that Rajaladevi, the daughter of Mahapradhana Bichiraja, Renovated the Vijaya-Jinalaya at Purikara-nagara and made a gift of land and Money for the same, on the advice of  her teacher rajaguru  Padmasena and with the Consent of her father.

LAKSHMSVAR, SHIRHATTI TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Slab built into the wall of the Taluk Office Singhana –(Undated)

The inscription records a gift of land, garden, etc., made, after purchase, by Sanagayya, for the benefit of the temple of Remmesvara, constructed by him in the Premises of the temple of Somanatha at Purikara-nagara and named after his grand Preceptor Remmarasa, when Mallisetti was governing Karnata-vishaya. Mallisetti’s Disciple of Remmarasa who was a disciple of Kesava-dandanatha.

This fragmentary and damaged record mentions Arya Mallisetti, a subordinate of the king.

DEVANGAV, SINDGI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab set up in the temple of Kallappa Singhana—(Undated)

This undated record registers a gift of land to god Kalideva of Kesarpati by Magara-murari Soyideva-nayaka who was a subordinate of king Simghana. It also Records other gifts of land, oil and taxes to the same deity by the Mahajanas, Mummuridandas and others. This gift was made over to [Siva]deva, the acharya of the temple. Cf. No. 184 above.

TADDEVADI, INDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab lying in the old village site on the bank of the Bhimarathi Singhana—(Undated)

The inscription records a gift of some land made to the temple of Chandesvaradeva at Taddavadige, by Chadarasa, the manneya of Taddavadi-nadu, on the occasion of a total solar eclipse  (Kattaleya-grahana). The gift was entrusted to Bijja-Jiya, the acharya of the temple of Somanathadeva at Takkalige.

Slab from the Isvara temple at Madarkhandi,

now kept in the house of Mr. W. T. Apte Singhana—(Date lost)

This fragmentary and damaged inscription seems to record some gifts the details of which are lost. It mentions Madurakhandi.

Slab from the Isvara temple at Madarkhandi,

now kept in the house of Mr. W. T. Apte  Singhana—(Date lost)

No details of the date except Sravana, ba. Tuesday are preserved, in this fragmentary record.

It seems to record a grant of oil some religious purpose, in the presence of the Mahajanas who assembled in the Sabhamantapa for the purpose.

Hero-stone close to the temple near

the village Chavadi Singhana --- (Date  lost)

The details of the date preserved in this damaged record are only Chaitra su. 3, Thursday.

Except the name of  the king, nothing can be made out in this inscription.

AGARKHED,  INDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab fixed into the wall of the temple of Hanuman Kannara—A. D. 1248

This damaged record is dated Saka 1170,Kilaka, Jyeshtha, Purnima,Monday, lunar eclipse. In the given year  there wear two Jyeshthas, adhika and Nija, and the lunar eclipse fell on the Purnima of  nija-Jyeshtha, which was a Sunday And not Monday. The latter tithi corresponds to A. D. 1248, June 7. The inscription Seems to record a gift of land to Jaina ascetic of Desi-gana, made in the presence of the Mahajanas of agrahara Kheda and other  of that  place. The details of the Gift are lost.

KALKERI, SINDGI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Slab in the temple called Mallaayyana-gudi Kannara –A. D. 1250-51

This record is dated in the king’s regnal year  4, Sadharana, 8, Monday.  The Mouth is not given. The year Sadharana  in Kannara’s reign corresponded with A. D.1250-51. In the absence of the month,  the Christian equivalent of the  other details cannot be found out.

The inscription records a gift of land made to the temple of Ananta-Tirthadeva by the Mahajanas of  Kalukere on the occasion of the birth of a son in the house of One Rangarasa.

Another gift of income derived from taxes, made to the same temple in the Month of  Pusbva of the same year by Sarbadhara-nayaka, is also recorded.

LAKSHMESVAR, SHIRHATTI TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Hero-stone built into the backyard of  the Taluk Office Kannara—A. D.1259

This record  is dated Saka 1181, (expressed by the chronogram Indu-kari-Rudra) Sidharthi, Jyeshtha, ba. 10, Monday. Corresponding to A. D. 1259, June 16, Monday, f. d. t. 10.

The inscription commemorates the death of Khaiya (also called Khaila) and Mayiga who voluntarily lost their lives following the death of their ‘mother ‘ Lakkhile, The wife of Achideva, a servant of Chamunda-Dandesa.

This fragmentary inscription in Nagari script and Sanskrit language opens with The Vachana of  Kapilasiddha-Mallikarjuna and gives the genealogy of the Yadava Kings upto Kannara.

TADALRAGI, JAMKHAND TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Stone-beam in the Isvara temple, called Degula,

outside the village Mahadeva—A. D. 1269

This damaged record is dated in the king’s regnal year 10, Suka, Sravana, Purnima Wednesday. The weekday is wrong. The tithi  corresponds to A. D. 1269, July 15, Which was Monday and not Wednesday.

The inscription records  a gift of land by  Bommarasi, son of Sovarasideva To a mason (name-lost) as remuneration for the construction of the sikhara of the Temple of  Somanatha with brick and mortar. The donor was the acharya of the temple.

KALKERI, HANGAL TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Pillar in the temple of Somesvara Mahadeva---A. D. 1270

This record is dated in the king’s regnal year 12, Pramoduta, Jyeshtha, su. 5,Monday, Samkramana, corresponding to A. D. 1270 May 26, Monday.

This inscription records a remission of certain taxes for the benefit of the temple of Svayamdhu Somanatha of Kalukere and for the feeding of the ascetics by Sitala  Mayideva, the officer of taxes, at the instance of Sarvadhikari Vittarasa.

(B. K. No. 102 of 1935-36)

HIREBIDRI, RANEBENNUR TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Slab set up in the gale-wau of the Kallesvara temple Samachandra—A. D. 1283

This is dated Saka 1205, Svabhanu, Ashadha, ba. 30, Sunday, Mithunasamkramana. The tithi corresponds to A. D. 1283, June 26, Saturday, instead of Sunday. The month was Adhika-Asnadha.

The inscription records a gift of land by Padmaladevi, wife of Mahamandalesvara Vikramadityadeva of the Gutta family, for worship and offerings to god Svayambhu Kalinathadeva of Bidirahalli, after leaving the feet of Tripmantakadeva, son of Mallikarjunadeva. The record gives a short genealogy of Vikramaditya.

LAKSHMESVAR, SHTRHATTI TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Hero-stone in the Taluk Office Ramachanadra—A. D. 1287

This badly damaged record is dated in the king’s regna; year 17, Sarvajit, Kartika,Su. 10, Thursday, corresponding  to A. D. 1287 October 16, Thursday, f.d.t. 93.

The inscription seems to commemorate the death of Damanayaka, a hero who died in a fight with Mummudi Singeya of Kummata.

KALKERI, HANGAL TALUK, DHARWAR DISTRICT

Stone on the tank bund Ramachandra—A. D. 1289

This record is dated in the king’s rengal year 18, Sarvadhari, pushys, su. 8, Saturday, corresponding to A. D. 1289, January 1, Saturday.

The inscription records the death, by Jaina rite, of a certain Madayya, the son of Sayisetti and Madavve, and a disciple of Samantabhadradeva, a Jaina ascetic Belonging to Mula-samgha.  

No. 224

(B.K.No.28 of 1935-36)

LAKSHMESVAR, SHIRHATTI  TALUK, DHARWAR  DISTRICT

Slab standing in the backyard of the Taluk office Ramachandra A.D 1295

This mutilated record is dated saka 1217 (in chronogram), Bhadrapada, su. 5. Monday. It corresponds to A.D. 1295, August 16, the weekday being Tuesday and not Monday.

The inscription seems to belong to the reign of Ramadeva of  the Yadava dynasty.

It registers a gift of land for worship and offerings to god Santhinathadeva, by Somaya And padmaya who purchased the land for the purpose. It refers to an officer who was Governing Huligere-300 division. The record mentions certain Jaina preceptors Of  Mula-samgha, Surastha-gapa and chitrakuta-anvaya.

BARDOL, INDI TALUK, BIJAPUR DISTRICT

Pillar in the temple called kumbhara-degula Ramachandra-A.D. 1304

This record is dated saka 1226, krodhin, jyeshtha. The tithi and weekday are not given. the year and the month correspond to A.D.1304,May-June.

It records a grant of land made to chalava of kausika-gotra by kamchagara revisetti and others at the instance of saruadhikari vitha adeva-nayaka, an officer under mahamandales’vara jaitapaladeva-rane.

The donee is stated to have been born in the royal family (raja-vamsa)

Ramachandra-(A.D.1306)

This record is dated saka1228, parabhava,sravana,ba.30 Monday. The tithi corresponds to A.D 1306, August 10,Wednesday And not Monday.

The inscription records a gift of land for the purpose of offerings to god Kallinatha of Bellalige, in Kanambade-bada of, karahada four thousand. The gift was made by Bhayigauda and others under the orders of Mahapradaba, saruadhikari Ranganatha.

BANAVASI, SIRSI TALUK, NORTH KANARA DISTRICT

Broken slab in the jaina basti  Yadave

In this fragmentary and damaged record the available details of the date are Isvara, vaisakha,su 3,Sunday.

The inscription refers to a yadava king (name lost) and mentions kalagavunda the son of Boppaga vunda.
