No. 446

(A. R. No. 272 of 1936-37)

KĀNDALVĀḌI, TIRUKKOYILUR TALUK, SOUTH ARCOT DISTRICT

Wall of the Āñjanēya shrine

Circa 17th century

This record is dated the cyclic year Pārthiva, Āśvija ba. 7. The details are insufficient for verification.

It states that the garuḍa-gaṁbha was the gift of Kēshavaṇṇa, grandson of Chaṇḍikeya Narasayya, to god Lakshmīnārāyaṇadēva of Kāndalvāḍi.

Another record engraved below this, also dated in the cyclic year Pārthiva, Aśvija ba., states that [Giriya]pa, son of Kaḷasayigaḷa Timmapa had the temple of Laksmīnārāyaṇadēva constructed, at Narāṇapura (Nārāyaṇapura).
