CHITTĀMŪR, TIRUKKOYILUR TALUK, SOUTH ARCOT DISTRICT

Base of the mānastaṁbha in the Jaina temple

Circa 16th century

It states that Buśrēshṭhī of Mahā Ãāgakula had the mānastaṁbha erected. The record is in Sansktit.

The Tamil version (A. R. No. 517 of 1937-38) engraved on another face of this mānastaṁbha states that this was the gift of Buśśeṭṭi, son of Bāyi-śeṭṭi, a Vaiśya of Jagatāṇi Gutti.
