TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 234 of 1931-32)

GUṆḌUGALLU, PUNGANUR TALUK, CHITTOOR DISTRICT

Rock in a field called Sēshappa-maḍi

1584 A.D.

This badly damaged record refers to Bhīkshāvṛitti-ayya and seems to register a gift the details of which cannot be made out.

It is dated the cyclic year Tāraṇa, Māgha ba. 14, Friday. On palaeographical grounds the record may be assigned to the 16th century in which case the details regularly correspond to 1584 A.D., January 31 which might be the intended date.
