TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 478 of 1928-29)

INDABETTU, PUTTUR TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab set up in the deserted Vīrabhadra temple in a field in the village

1473 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1394, Vijaya, Kārttika Su. 15 corresponding to 1473 A.D., November 4. The details are not verifiable. The Saka year is wrong for 1395.

It records a gift of land by Kāmi[rā]ya-arasa also called Baṅga, to Nanjappa for worshipping god Vīrabhadradēva of Baṁgavāḍi. It was stipulated that the land was to be enjoyed by the donee hereditarily and if he did not haveany issues the gift land would be the property of god Vīrabhadradēya.

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಏ ನಮಃ | ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಶಿ-

2 ರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿ | ಚಂದ್ರಚಾಮರಚಾರ[ರ*]ವೇ ತ್ರಯಿಲೋ-

3 ಕ್ಯನಗರಾರಂಭಂ | ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾ-

4 ಯ ಶಂಭವೇ || ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿ ಜಯಾಭ್ಯುದಯ-

5 ವಹ ಶಕವರುಷ 1394 ನೆಯವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನ ವಿಜ-

6 ಯ ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ ಕಾರ್ತ್ತಿಕ ಶು 15 ನೆ[ಉ] ಬಂಗ

7 ವಾಡಿಯ [ಶ್ರೀವೀ]ರಭದ್ರ ದೇವರ ಅಮ್ರುತಪಡಿ-

8 ಯ ಧಂರ್ಮಕೆ ಕಾಮಿರಾಯ ಅರಸರಾದ [ಬ]-

9 ೦ಗರು ಬರಸಿಕೊಟ್ಟ ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನದ ಕ್ರಮವೆ-

10 ೦ತೆಂದರೆ ಪಾಲಶಂತಡುಕದ ಭೂಮಿ ಬಯಲು ಬಿ-

11 ತ್ತುವ ಮು 17 ಬೆಟ್ಟು ಮಜಿಲು ಮು 38 ಉಭಯಂ

12 ಪಲಸಂತಡುಕದಲ್ಲಿ ಬಿ(೦)ತ್ತುವ ಮು [4]5 ಕಳಲಿಯಲು ಬಿ-
