TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

(A. R. No. 599 of 1929-30)

HANDĀḌI, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab (No. 3) set up in the prākāra of Heggaḍe Gōpālakṛishṇa temple

Veṅkaṭādrirāya, 1542 A.D.

This is dated Śaka 1465 (current). Subhakṛit, Bhādrapada śu. 1, Friday, solar eclipse corresponding to 1542 A.D., August 11, Friday, f.d.t. .06.

It registers a gift of lands for worship and offerings in the matha attached to the temple of Gōpinātha by Śaṅkaraliṅga-seṭṭi and Mahāliṅga-seṭṭi, descendants of Saṅku-heggaḍe who had the temple built, in Handāḍi, an adhivāsa of the village Brahmūru. Achchappa- voḍeya is stated to have been governing Bārakūru-rājya.

1 ಶ್ರೀ ಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇಂ ನಮ[B*] ಶ್ರೀ ಸರಸ್ವತ್ಯೈ ನಮ[B*] ನಿರ್ವಿಘ್ನಮಸ್ತು[|*]
..........ನಮಸ್ತುಂಗ ಶಿರಶ್ಚುಂಬಿ ಚಂದ್ರ –

2 ಚಾಮರ ಚಾರವೇ [|*] ತ್ರಯಿಲೋಕ್ಯ ನಗರಾರಂಭ ಮೂಲಸ್ತಂಭಾಯ ಶಂಭವೇ
..........[||*] ಸ್ವಸ್ತಿಶ್ರೀ ಜಯಾಭ್ಯುದಯಕರ ಶಾಲಿವಾಹನ ಶಕವರು –

3 ಷ 1464 ಸಂದು ಅಯಿದನೆಯ ವರ್ತ್ತಮಾನದ ಶುಭಕ್ರುತು ಸಂವತ್ಸರದ
..........ಭಾದ್ರಪದ ಶುದ್ಧ 1ಲು ಶುಕ್ರವಾರ ಸೂರ್ಯ್ಯಗ್ರಹಣ

4 ಪುಂಣ್ಯಕಾಲದಲು ಶ್ರೀಮನ್ಮಹಾರಾಜ ರಾಜಾಧಿಪರಮೇಶ್ವರ ಶ್ರೀವೀರ ಪ್ರತಾಪ
..........ವೆಂಕಟಾದ್ರಿರಾಯ ಮಹಾರಾಯರು ವಿಜೆಯನಗರ ಸಿಂಹಾ –

5 ಸನದಲಿ ಯಿದ್ದು ಸುಖರಾಜ್ಯಂಗೆಯಿವ ಕಾಲದಲು ಆ ರಾಯರ ನಿರೂಪದಿಂದ
..........ಅಚ್ಚಪ್ಪ ವೊಡೆಯರು ಬಾರಕೂರ ಸಿಂಹಾಸನವನಾಳುವ ಕಾಲದಲ್ಲಿ ಬ –

6 ರ[ದ*] ಶಿಲಾಶಾಸನದಕ್ರಮವೆಂತೆಂದರೆ ಬ್ರಂಹ್ಮರ ಗ್ರಾಮದ ಹಂದಾಡಿಯ
..........ಅಧಿವಾಸದಲಿ ಕೋಟೆಕೇರಿಯ ಮಾಬುಸೆಟ್ಟಳಿಯ ಸಂಕು ಹೆಗ್ಗಡೆಯರು ಕಟ್ಟಿ-

7 ಸಿದ ದೇವಾಲಯದ ಶ್ರೀ ಗೋಪಿನಾಥ ದೇವರ ದಿವ್ಯಶ್ರೀ ಪಾದಪದ್ಮಂಗಳ
..........ಸಂನಿಧಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಕಟ್ಟಿದ ಯೆರಡು ಮಠದಲ್ಲಿಉ ಆ ದೇವರ ಅಂಗರಂಗಭೋಗ

8 ಆ ಚಂದ್ರಾರ್ಕ್ಕವಾಗಿ ನಡವಂತಾಗಿ ಸಹಿರಂಣ್ಯೋದಕ ದಾನ (ದಾನ) ಧಾರದತ್ತವಾಗಿ
..........ಆ ಸಂಕುಹೆಗ್ಗಡೆಯರಮೊಂಮ . . ರು ಸೆಟ್ಟಿಯ .

9 ಳಿಂದಿರು ಶಂಕರಲಿಂಗ ಸೆಟ್ಟಿಯರು ಅವರಕೂಡಣ ತಾಯಮಕ್ಕಳು ನಾಲುವರು .
........... . ಸಹ

10 ವಾಗಿ ಧಾರೆಯನೆಱದು ಬಿಟಬಾಳು ಅಕ್ಕಿಯ ವಿವರ ತೆಂಕ ಒಂದು ಅಜರಾಡಿಯ
..........ದೊಳಮಾಡಿದಲ್ಲಿ ಅಕ್ಕಿ ಮು 14 ಸಾಲಬಳಿಯರ ಧರ್ಮ . . . . . .

11 ಕನ ಬಗೆಯ ಮೂಡಗದ್ದೆಗಳನಲ್ಲಿ ಮು 9 ಹೊಂನಪ್ಪ ಬಿತ್ತುವಗದ್ದೆ ಮು 3
