Hero-stone near the Siddhesvara temple

Ramachandra-A.D. 1275

This inscription is dated in the cyclic year Yuva during the reign of Ramadeva, Chaitra ba. 11, Sunday, corresponding to A.D. 1275, March 11, Sunday.

It commemorates the death of Joyi-Nayaka of Haveri who marched against (Narasiha) of Dorasamudra and died in the presence of [Joya]-Dalavaya.

Hero-stone in the temple of Yellamma

Ramachandra-A.D. 1277

This inscription is dated in the 7th year of the reign of Ramachandradeva, Isvara, Kartika su., Thursday.  The tithi is lost.  In the cyclic year Isvara there were two Kartikas and in the suddha-paksha of both the months the following tithis occurred on Thursdays.

Adhika-kartika Su. 2 = A.D. 1277, September 30.

Do                   Su. 9 = Do            October 7.

Nija-Kartika     Su. 8 = Do            November 4

Do                  Su. 16 = Do.             Do. 11

In the absence of the exact tithi, it is difficult to find out the equivalent.  It states that [Talli]-Nayaka son of [Na]geya-Rahuta died in a battle.  The record is much damaged.

Hero-stone near the temple of Kalamesvara in S. No. 68

Ramachandra-A.D. 1280

This inscription is dated in the 10th year of the reign of Ramachandradeva, Pramathi, Phalguna ba. 5, Monday.  The details are irregular.  The tithi corresponds to A.D. 1280, February 5.  The week-day however was Thursday.

It records the death of Mallaya-Nayaka, called the child (sisu) of the Eighteen Samayas (Halinentu Samaya) in a fight in the presence of the assembly of the prithvinadu in Nagarakhanda.  Tiluvalli is mentioned.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1281

This inscription is dated in the 12th year (?) of the reign of Ramachandradeva, Vishu, Sravana ba. Ashtami, Friday, corresponding to A.D…. 1281, August 8, Friday.  

It records the death of Sura-gauda, probably the disciple of Santi-Bhattaraka.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1282

This inscription belonging to the reign of Ramachandradeva is dated in Saka 1204, Chitrabhanu, Margasira ba. 7, Sunday, corresponding to A.D. 1282, November 23, Sunday, f.d.t. .42.

It commemorates the death of Bugudara Siddayya of Kagenele, who died in a fight when Sovideva of Bandanike, attached Taravur.  The valour of the martyr is extolled in verse.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1283

This inscription belonging to the reign of Ramachandraya is dated in Saka 1205, Svabhanau, Kartika ba. 30, Monday.  But for the week-day, the details correspond to A.D. 1283, November 20.  The week-day was Saturday.  In the previous year, A.D. 1282, November ba. 2, Monday.  This is probably the intended date.

It registers a gift of paddy and oil for the offerings of god Narasimhadeva of Vijeyapura, also known as Dakshina-Varanasi.  The donation was made by Sarvadhikari Devaya-Nayaka.  The gift is stated to have been made after worshipping the five Huris.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1284

This inscription is dated in the cyclic year Svabhanu during the reign of Ramachandradeva, Phalguna ba. 10, Sunday, corresponding to A.D. 1284, March 9, Sunday, f.d.t .50.

It states that the stone erected in the hero-stone of the son (name not given) of Bommaya-Nayaka who is described as the son (maga) of the Four-Hundred (mahajanas)

Maha-sati stone set up near the southern entrance into the Kalamesvara temple

Ramachandra-A.D. 1284

This inscription belonging to the reign of Ramachandradevaraya is dated in the 15th year of his reign, Tarana, Bhadrapada su. 10, Monday, corresponding to A.D. 1284, August 21, Monday, f.d.t. .30

It states that Chataya-Nayaka of Mulugunda died with his wife to keep the world given to their master, for which act, the kammata of Belugali was bestowed upon their family for ever.

Hero-stone set up near Kalamesvara temple

Ramachandra-A.D. 1285

This inscription is dated in the 16th year of the reign of Ramachandraraya Svabhanu, Magha su. 1, Monday.  In Subhanu = A.D. 1284 Maghasu. 1 fell on Thursday, January 20.  In the next year i.e., Tarana, the details regularly correspond to A.D. 1285, January 8, Monday.  The latter probably is the intended date.

It records the death of a hero (name lost) and seems to register a grant of land made in his memory.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1287

This inscription is dated the 19th year of the reign of Ramadeva, Sarvait, Margasira su. 7, Thursday, corresponding regularly to A.D. 1287, November 13, Thursday.

It registers a grant of land made by Mahamandalesvara Javugideva Raneya for the worship and offerings to the gods kalinathadeva and Mulasthana-Jakkesvaradeva at Hiriya-Kittur and for feeding the Brahmins and ascetics.  The gift was entrusted to Bachedeva.  Hiriya-Kittur is stated to be situated in Hichageya-nadu.  Javugideva is given the epithet Chauhana-raya-rautta-mohana.

Dhavajastambha in the Muktesvara temple

Ramachandra-A.D. 1288

This inscription in Sanskrit verse is very badly damaged.  It belongs to the reign of Ramachandradeva and is dated in Saka 1210, Sarvadhari, Sravana, su. 5, Monday corresponding to A.D. 1288, July 5, Monday.  It seems to refer to the erection of a Kirtistambha by Sainyadhipati [Saliva].

Ramachandra-A.D. 1289

This damaged record belonging to the reign of Ramachandradeva is dated in Saka 1211, Virodhi, Asvija ba. 6, Thursday, corresponding regularly to A.D. 1289, October 6, Thursday.

It records the death of a hero (name lost) in a fight.  He is stated to be the son of Vasuva-Nayaka.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1291

This inscription is dated in the 22nd year of the reign of Ramadeva, Khara, Jyeshtha su. 5, Thursday, corresponding to A.D. 1291, May 3, Thursday f.d.t. 063.  It records a gift of land granted as nettaru-geyi by Deka-gauda, the prabhu of Belugali, to Masaneya-Nayaka who died in fight at Belugali.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1292

This inscription, referring itself to the reign of Ramachandradeva, is dated in his regnal year 24, Khara, Pushya ba. Amavasya, Sunday, solar eclipse, corresponding to A.D. 1292, January 21.  The week-day, however, was Monday and not Sunday as cited in the record, though amavasya commened on Sunday after 11.

It records that, at the instance of Maharpradhana Sarvadhikari Parasuramadeva, Sarvadhikari Devarasa, Sitala-Hegade and others made a grant of tolls to god Muktanatha of Gope, which is described as Dakshinavaranasi.  Siddha-Sivadeva or Gope is described as the Raya-Rajaguru.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1297

This inscription is dated in the 29th year of the reign of Ramachandraya, Hemalambi, Margasira ba. Purnima (mistake for amavasya) Sunday corresponding to A.D. 1297, December 15, Sunday.  It states that the hero-stone was erected in memory of Maidhaya, son of Kurubara Basava-gaunda of Ittage.

Ramachandra-A.D. 1298

This inscription is dated in the 30th year of the reign of Ramadeva, Vilambi Ashadha su. 3, Thursday, corresponding to A.D. 1298, June 12, Thursday f.d.t. .33

It records a gift of certain taxes for the worship and offerings to god Siddhanathadeva of the maha-piriy-agrahara Haveri.  The grant was made by Sumkadhikari Madayya under the orders of Saluveya Acharasa.

Third face of a pillar in Ark-killah

Ramachandra-A.D. 1304

This inscription, referring itself to the reign of Ramachandradeva is dated in Saka 1225, Krodhi, Chaitra su. 11, Wednesday.  It may be noted that the tithi (towards the end of the record) is called Harivasada-ekadasi.  In the cyclic year Krodhi which was Saka 1226 (expired), the detail correspond to A.D. 1304,  March 18, Wednesday.

It states that the Urodeyas and Mahajanas of Vijeyapura made a grant of land to Maddaleya Kallayya and is brother for playing on musical instruments at the time of worshipping the god Narasimha.

This inscription apparently belonging to the reign of a Yadava king (name lost) states that the stone was erected in memory of Udeya-Nayaka who died in a fight with Bala-gavunda of Kelavur.
