No. 299.

(A.R. No. 332 of 1912.)

ON A SLAB SET UP IN A FIELD AT KARSHANAPALLE, PUNGANUR ZAMINDARI, CHITTOOR DISTRICT.

The record is not dated.  It refers itself to the reign of Sembiyan Mahabali-Banarasa and to the rule of Vikkiyanna over Pulinadu sixty.  It records the death of Vikki and another hero in a battle with Pallvi(a)-Dhavala and that the hero’s brother Kundiga set up stone in their memory.  Sembiyan Mahabali-Banarasa was a subordinate of the Chola king Parataka I.

ON A PILLAR OF THE ANJANEYASVAMI TEMPLE AT KOTTASIVARAM, MADAKASIRA TALUK, ANANTAPUR DISTRICT.

This is dated in the tenth year of the reign of the Chola king Rajendra-Choladeva and records that the mandapa was erected by Areyam Rajaraja alias Vikramachola-Choliyavariyam, the chief of Chattamangalam in Tiremur-nadu, and commander of the king’s army, on the 40th day opposite 160 days of the year.  The inscription is written in the Tamil language and Kanarese characters.

ON A SLAB SET UP IN A FIELD AT KARSHANAPALLE, PUNGANUR ZAMINDARI, CHITTOR DISTRICT.

This is not dated.  It refers itself to the reign of the Chola king Rajendra-Chola and records the death of Nadulabbe, daughter of Kittiya-Gavunda of Muttukuru.

ON A SLAB LYING NEAR THE RUINED SIVA TEMPLE IN THE YENUGARATIMADI FIELD AT PEDDA-TIPPASAMUDRAM, MADANAPALLE TALUK, SAME DISTRICT.

This is dated Saka 981, Hemalambi with no further detailes.  Hemalambi corresponded to Saka 980 current = A.D. 1057-58.  It belongs to the reign of the Chola king Ko-Pparakesaripanmar Vijayarajendra-Choladeva and records that Bammarasa, son of Kovarmarasa of Champuru in Madambut twelve, fought against a great army and went to heaven.
