BOMMĀRUBEṬṬU, UDIPI TALUK, SOUTH KANARA DISTRICT

Slab standing in the Mūḍa-maṭha

Circa 15th century

       It records a gift of rice for worship, offerings, burning a perpetual lamp and feeding brahmins on festival days in the maṭha of god Janārdana-mūrti by Kela-heggaḍa Mañjuseṭṭi of Bammara-beṭṭu, The said maṭha, was caused to be built by Pāṇḍi-sāvanta.

      It is dated the cyclic year Viśāvasu, Dakshiṇāyana, Siṁha 15, Ashṭami, Sunday. On palaeographical grounds the record may be assigned to the 14th-15th century. The details do not tally in any of the given cyclic year occuring in the period.

1        ಶ್ರೀಗಣಾಧಿಪತಯೇ ನಮ[B*] ನಿರ್ವಿಘ್ನಮಸ್ತು ಚಕ್ರಂ ಯಸ್ಯ ಭುಜಂಗಮೇ . .
