TEXT OF INSCRIPTIONS

No. 145

(A. R. No. 107 of 1939-40)

TIRVOTTūR, CHEYYAR TALUK, NORTH ARCOT DISTRICT

Slab wall of the Naṭarāja-maṇḍapa in the Vēdapurīśvara temple

[Virūpāksha], 1470 A.D.

It registers a remission of 150 honnu due to the king towards the taxes jōḍi, śūlavari, paṭṭaḍe and nūlāva, from the people of Tiruvottūr, to enable them to reconstruct the vi6llage which was destroyed by floods, which fact was reported to the king by Mādirājana Channaya and Choka-nāyinār, and records provision made for worship etc, to god Vēdapurināthadēva. The remission was made by mahāmaṇḍalēśvara Sāḷuva Narasiṅgayyadēva.

It is dated the cyclic year Virōdhi, Māgha śu. 15, the details being insufficient for verification. The cyclic year, falling in the reign- period of Virūpāksha, corresponds to 1469-70 A.D., when the tithi occurred on 1470 A.D., January 17.

1 ¹ಶುಭಮಸ್ತು | ವಿರೋಧಿ ಸಂವತ್ಸೆರದ ಮಘ ಶು15ಲು ಶ್ರೀರ್ಮಮಹಾಮಂಡಲೇಶ್ವರ

2 ಮೇದಿನೀ ಮೀಸರಗಂಡ ಕಠಾರಿಸಾಳುವ ಸಾಳುವ ನರಸಿಂಗಯ್ಯದೇವಮಹಾ
..........ಅರಸುಗಳು ತಿರುವತೂರ

3 ಸ್ತಾನದವರಿಗೆ ಆ[ರ್ಪಿತ]ದ ಕಾರ್ಯ್ಯನಿಂಮ್ಮ ದೇವಸ್ತಾನ ನೆಲವನು ಎಲವನೂ
..........ತೊಱೆಬಂದು ಎತ್ತಿಕೊಂಡು

4 ಊರನೂ ತೊಱೆ ಏಱಿಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಯಿತೆಂದು ಮಾದಿರಾಜನ ಚೆಂನಯನೂ
..........ಚೊಕನಾಯಿನಾರೆಊ ಹೇಳಿ –

5 ದದು ಅದಕೆದೇವಸ್ತಾನಕೆಉ ಊರಿಗೆಉ ಉಪದ್ರವ ವಿಲದಹಾಂಗೆ . . ಱಕಲ
..........ಕಟಿಸುವದಕೆ ನಿಂಮದೇವಸ್ತಾನಕೆ

6 ನೀಊ ಅರಮನೆಗೆ ತೆತುಬಹ ಜೋಡಿ ಶೂಲವರಿ ಪಟ್ಟಡೆ ನೂಲಾಯಸಹ ನೂಱ
..........ಅಯಿವತ್ತು ಹೊಂನನು ಸರ್ವಮಾನ್ಯ –

7....... ವಾಗಿ ವೇದಪುರಿನಾಥ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ದಾರೆಯ ಎಱೆದು ಕೊಟಿವಾಗಿ ನೀಊ ಜೋಡಿಯಿ
..........ಹೊಂನನು ವರಿಸಿ [ಅಲೆಊಱ]

8 ಕಟ್ಟಿಸಿನೂ ತೇರು ತಿರುನಾಳು ತಿರುಪಣಿಯನಂ ವಿಶೇಷಪೂಜೆಯಾಗಿ
..........ನಡಸುವಬಹುದು[|*] ಶ್ರೀ ರಾಮಚಂದ್ರ
