ŚRĪRAṄGAM, TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI TALUK, TIRUCHCHIRAPPALLI DISTRICT
Inner jamb of the Nānmugan-gōpura, right of entrance
[Dēvarāya II]
This undated Kannaḍa record, engraved in Grantha characters, is
a royal order to Srīraṅga-Nārāyaṇa-Jīyyar, Uttamanambi and the
sthānikas of the temple that on the representation made to the king
by Uttamanambi, gifts of land in four villages Śuṇḍakkāi, Gōvattakuḍi,
Toḍaiyūr and Karuṅguḷam were made to the latter and his brother
Chakrarāya for a service instituted in the temple in the name of
Dēvarāya (I) and the brothers were made the agents (karttas) of the
temple, exempted from the payment of the jōḍi on the granted lands
and remunerated in cash and in kind, in addition to an eighth share
in the contributions to the temple from these villages.
