INSCRIPTIONS COLLECTED DURING THE YEAR 1905-1906

ADITYA II

No. 109 (Page No. 97)

(A. R. No.109 of 1906)

South Arcot District, Tirukkoyilur Taluk, Jambai

Jambunatha Temple-On A Slab Set Up On

The Left Side Of The Second Entrance.

Karikala-Chola-27th Year

The last few lines of the inscription are badly damaged. The sense of the Record is rather obscure. It seems to register the consecration of a temple of Mahadeva by Valaiyur-Nakkar Yogavanar a resident of Ranabhima-mangalam on the southern bank of the Pennai, and an endowment made for worship their in by Vanakovaraiyar Viraparumar the chief of Vanagappadi-nadu by means of taxation on the lands at that village. The uravar seem to have been made responsible for the collection and payment of the amount into the temple.

No. 203  (Page No. 162)

(A. R. No. 203 of 1906)

South Arcot District, Tirukkoyilur Taluk, Perangiyur.

Ruined Siva Temple – On The Same Wall.

Parakesarivarman “Who Took The Head Of The Pandya” – Aditya Ii

Karikala – 5th Year (A.D. 968-69)

This records a gift of 95 sheep for a perpetual lamp in the temple by Ganapperuman alias Kulamanikka-Muttaraiyan a resident of the place.
