The king receives a number of
Western Chāḷukya birudas and
claims to belong to the Sōma-
vaṁśa. The characters are
crudely engraved and may be
assigned to about the 11th or
12th century A. D. The ins-
cription seems to record a gift
of land, 24 mattar in extent, to a
certain Chaṭṭeya-Nā[ya*]ka who
appears to have been the com-
mander of the king’s elephant
forces. Of. Ind. Ant., Vol.
VIII, p. 89. Other gifts to dei-
ties are also registered.

Yajuś-śākhā, who was well-
versed in Ubhaya-Vēdānta, Tar-

ed from Ammālāchārya (same
as Ammālāchārya of No. 13)
together with the hamlet
Kāraṇai, surnamed Prasanna-
veṅkaṭapuram as an a grahāra
to a number of Vaishṇavas, by
the king, at the request of
the Brahman officer Bhaṇḍā-
ram Veṅkatapati, son of Sarva-
Mantri and grandson of Nāgay-
āmātya, who belonged to the
Harita-gōtra, Âpastamba-sūtra
and Yajuś-śākhā.
