A month after he was first summoned by Congress president Sonia Gandhi following the Manipur crisis, Home Minister Shivraj Patil called on her again \97 this time with his report card on Jammu and Kashmir, the North-East and talks with Naxals.
Patil\92s visit to 10 Janpath comes against the backdrop of an impending Cabinet reshuffle \97 possibly in the first week of November. While the internal security scenario continues to cause concern to the Prime Minister and Sonia, the latest to sound an alarm over Patil\92s handling of J-K and the North-East are the UPA\92s Left allies.
Patil also had an hour-long session with general secretaries Ambika Soni, Salman Khursheed and Satyavrat Chaturvedi, Union Minister of State Kapil Sibal and Girija Vyas. The motive: A positive projection of his handling of various issues by the most articulate leaders of the party.
