may be readying for merger

The government on Thursday said it was
appointing advisors for synergising
the operations of MTNL and BSNL.
It is looking out for some good merchant bankers who could help in the process.
"Synergies will do good for MTNL and BSNL as both are strong companies", Union IT and Telecom Minister Dayanidhi Maran told reporters in New Delhi.
MTNL announces steep reduction in STD
tariff: MTNL said STD calls between fixed line customers of Delhi and Mumbai would be charged at a flat tariff of Rs 1.90 a minute.
