The recently reconvened Nepali
Parliament went on another revenge
spree proposing various measures that
will minimize the King’s stature even
more and in a move seen to placate the
Maoist terrorists, it ordered the
release of all terrorists in jails.
A Parliamentary Committee has
recommended that the King be stripped
of powers to appoint judges,
diplomats, appoint personnel to senior
statutory bodies. Further, foreign
diplomats would not be required to
submit their papers to the King and
instead will to the Prime Minister.
The Constitutionality of these
measures is not clear and there are no
reports suggesting a debate on these
measures.
