Steps leading to the Ramparts

Steps leading to the ramparts of the fortification around the temple. Historians say that the fortifications were build by the Tanjavur Nayaka rulers of 15th-16th century. However, we know from inscriptions, allegorical, and literary evidence that Thanjavur was a fortified city and is still visible via Google Earth.
