Russia keen on setting up
trawler port in Pondicherry

Russia has evinced keen interest in setting up two major projects in
Pondicherry.
A two member Russian delegation comprising Mikhel M Mgeladze, Consul General of
Russia (South India) and Oleg Abranki, Consul of Russia visited Pondicherry
earlier this week and held talks with a team led by local administration minister A Ezhumalai.
Offical sources said, Russia has shown interest in setting up a Deep Sea Trawler Port in Pondicherry at an estimated cost of Rs 100 crore.
The port will have facilities like jetty, slip way, cold storage, processing and packing units. 52 to 200 trawlers could be berthed in the port, the sources said and added that it was estimated that 1500 people would get employment in the project.
The second project relates to the setting up of a Pipe Town Gas Project for Rs 100 crore.
