Crucial talks with Pakistan: Singh, Vajpayee exchange ideas

Ahead of the crucial Indo-Pak talks, Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Friday had a breakfast meeting with his predecessor Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Vajpayee went to the Prime Minister's 7 Race Course Road house for a word with him ahead of the talks between External Affairs Minister K Natwar and his Pakistani counterpart Khurshid M Kasuri, beginning September 5, a PMO spokesman said.

Musharaff reiterates Kashmir line: Musharraf on Thursday reaffirmed Pakistan's commitment to the resolution of the Kashmir dispute in line with "the wishes of Kashmiri people". 

Govt consults allies, Opposition on talks with Pakistan:
The UPA government today started the process of consultations with allies as well as Opposition parties on the forthcoming Indo-Pak Foreign Ministers\92 talks here on September 5-6.

India wants LoC to act as a bridge with Pak: Reopening of consulates in Mumbai and Karachi, repatriation of fishermen and the confidence building exercises are being viewed positively by both countries.

Railway Minister Laloo Prasad Yadav on Thursday secured the approval of the Cabinet for holding a fresh inquiry into the February 2002 Godhra train fire.
