BMW India announced plans to roll out its first car (BMW 320ia) from the Chennai manufacturing hub by the end of March and also disclosed plans to manufacture the 5 series from India. BMW hopes to sell 1,000 units in the first year up from 257 last year. The manufacturing plan includes 90 per cent imported parts but hopes to localize more components such as seats and electronics.
