Disregarding an emotional appeal by Nepali Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala, Madhesis of the Terai region continued their peaceful protests until they actually see reform that will gain them proportional representation and electoral reform. Activists say that Koirala's televised address alone cannot satisfy their demands.

The Maoists agree that the Madhesis need better representation and authorized Koirala to make his televised address but also accuse them and others of being pro-King.
