A recent study suggests India would start seeing a new wave of Business Transformation Outsourcing (BTO) where consultants will advice clients on transforming businesses, enhance performance, and make strategic decisions. The Associated Chambers of Commerce (ASSOCHAM) says that the outsourcing trend started with Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) oriented towards cost-efficiency. This later graduated towards Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) where high-end knowledge process was outsourced. Now, with increased pressure to make strategic investments globally, global companies look for experienced consultants who have participated in transitions to help make challenging choices to transform their business.

The BTO market is valued at USD 680 billion and India is already participating in this market at 19% in 2004 and ASSOCHAM expects this to grow to 31% by 2009. Bangalore, Gurgaon, Delhi, Chennai, Mumbai, Kolkata, and Pune are being identified as preferred destinations for BTO.
