Acting on a tip-off from India , the United Arab Emirates (UAE) cracked down on Dawood Ibrahim’s gang and detained one of its top members including a brother-in-law of Ibrahim’s chief hit-man Chhota Shakeel. Arif Bhaijan is Shakeel’s brother-in-law is suspected to have murdered a drug smuggler Amjad Khan who switched loyalties from Ibrahim’s opponent Chhota Rajan to this mafia group.
Khan was recently murdered by Rajan’s hit-men and Bhaijan is considered the crucial link and handler of Khan. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) provided the tip-off and detailed background of Bhaijan. Unfortunately, most of the other gang-members had fled to neighboring countries. But Bhaijan’s detention and interrogation led to the arrest of a senior Ibrahim functionary Qayoom and several others. Khan’s murder led the police into many connections leading to an “influential” person in Mumbai. Police is not revealing who this person is.
India is trying to get these detained men deported for trial in India.
