European Aerospace (EADS) and Indian Defence Company Avionics Research Establishment (DARE) plan to develop a state-of-the-art missile-warning sensor for the Indian Air Force (IAF) to be integrated into future Defensive Aids Suite (DASS) of IAF.

The IAF defensive suite contains a defensive aids computer, integrated radar-band, electronic support, and missile and laser approach warners to ward off potential missile attacks from enemy combat aircraft.

EADS is working with a private Bangalore firm on component production and sub-system integration and expressed willingness to co-operate with DARE and other Indian defense establishments on all warning technologies including laser, radar, UV, and infra-red. EADS has developed airborne laser warning solution for European NH90 and “Tiger” helicopters and a naval solution being used by the German Navy.
