   IIT-Kanpur Develops Biometric Software

  The Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur) says that it has developed software that will help financial institutions and security agencies create biometric data banks using fingerprints, retinal scans, and signatures.

The Indian Institute of Technology-Kanpur (IIT-Kanpur) says that it has developed software that will help financial institutions and security agencies create biometric data banks using fingerprints, retinal scans, and signatures.

Funded by the Federal Information Technology Ministry, the software can help maintain records of criminals and terrorists, attendance of large number of students and factory workers, and financial institutions can maintain information on loan defaulters and prevent credit card fraud.
