Coalition forces in Afghanistan followed an air-raid on a terrorist hideout
which killed 40 Taliban terrorists with a land raid on a different hideout
killing another 30 terrorists in the volatile Halmand province in Southern
Afghanistan but the claim is unverifiable. More than 3000 NATO-led British
troops are deployed in this area to take over security role from US forces.
Apparently, coalition forces were provided information of the hideouts by
captured terrorists and also captured a huge cache of arms.
News reports from Afghanistan puts the number dead since May at 700, most of
them being terrorists. This is the largest upsurge in violence since the
Taliban were ousted in late 2001.
