In addition to Wullar Barrage, Baglihar and Krishenganga projects, Pakistan
now objects to the 240 megawatt (MW) Uri-II power project in Jammu & Kashmir
and has demanded to “inspect” the new embankments along the Ravi River, a
tributary of Jhelum. Islamabad had reportedly sought a special meeting of Indus
Water Commissioners on this project and India has agreed to consider the
demand.
India has accepted Pakistan’s request to inspect the newly-constructed
embankments along the Ravi. Pakistan claims that construction of such dykes can
lead to alter natural course of the river.
