Last
year when Advani visited Pakistan he called Jinnah
a secularist sparking major opposition
to his continuance as Chief of BJP by hard-line
elements within the party. That single statement made
him lose his position in the party but an unperturbed
Advani continues to disregard the dictates of the
Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) or the Rashtriya
Swayamsevak Sangh (VHP). He even volunteered to
partner with the Congress if they should drop their
“minorityism” policy and fight the common enemy of
India – communism, poverty, and underdevelopment.
While
all these moderation to political tempers has angered
extreme right wing elements in the Sangh Parivar, he
is wooing middle-class Indians who are more interested
in jobs, development, economic choices, prosperity,
and decent living.
