In response from the 7-party political
alliance to cease violent activities,
Nepal Maoist terrorists announced an
indefinite unilateral ceasefire to
facilitate a national strike. The
political parties called this strike
seeking to explore new venues to bring
settlement to the internal strife.
Under heavy American pressure, the
politicians walked away from an
incipient alliance with the
terrorists. But they continued to
maintain an arms length alliance with
the group that controls large sections
of rural Nepal.
King Gnanendra refuses to believe in this
ceasefire and says that the terrorists
will use the opportunity to infiltrate
the capital and attack sensitive
targets. |
