The indigenously designed and built
multi-barrel rocket launcher code
named Pinaka was
successfully test fired twice from
India's integrated test range at
Chandipur.
The rocket has a range of 39 kilometers
and the Pinaka system can fire 12
rockets in 44 seconds saturating large
areas rapidly. When integrated with
the Rajendra multi-phased array radar
(another indigenous product), the
system can take out tanks, ground
formation, and even air formations.
On board an indigenously built fast attack craft, INS
Bitra, Rear Admiral Sanjay Vadgaokar said that the
Navy Air Squadron would deploy 17 Russian Mig-29K
aircraft next year. He said that the aircraft would be
capable of landing on the retrofitted Admiral Gorshkov
also acquired from Russia.
