The Sri Lankan Monitoring Mission (SLMM) cautioned both the Government and the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) against gradually worsening confrontations. Citing the recent case where an LTTE trawler exploded itself when intercepted and resultantly destroying a Sri Lankan Navy fast attack craft causing the death of 6 LTTE operatives and missing in action 8 sailors. While the LTTE denied its involvement, the SLMM said that with past experience tells it not to accept the denial.
