NY Govt deliberately hid COVID deaths to avoid Fed probe

The New York state government, known for its liberal values, deliberately hid COVID infection rates to avoid a Federal investigation into that state’s handling of the virus.

In a new telephone conversation released from a New York state Democratic leaders’ meeting, it seems that the state government known for its liberal values deliberately hid COVID infection rates to avoid a Federal investigation into that state’s handling of the virus. Some newspapers have criticized the new York Times for its one-sided narrative looking to ridicule India for its COVID handling capability while the state they are in deliberately hid infection and mortality data to look good. In percentage to population terms, New York has one of the worst infection and mortality numbers in the US, while India as a country has one of the lowest infection and mortality rates in the world. Many liberal comedians have salivated over the New York model of handling things while making fun of Indian response — these admirers have called themselves Cuomosexuals after the name of the “liberal” state governor Andrew Cuomo.
Cuomo, a three-term governor, is facing numerous sexual harassment allegations from employees and co-workers prompting State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins to demand the governor’s resignation “For the good of the state.” Justifying her reasoning, she said, “We have more allegations about sexual harassment, a toxic work environment, the loss of credibility surrounding the Covid nursing home data and questions surrounding the construction of a major infrastructure project.” New York State Assembly Speaker Carl Heastie also publicly supported this call. Stewart-Cousins's decision to join a growing number of state Democratic lawmakers pushing for Cuomo to step down upped the pressure on Cuomo. This call brings a sharp focus on New York Sens. Chuck Schumer, the majority leader in the US Senate, and Kirsten Gillibrand, and the state’s hierarchy’s response to these developments.
Cuomo rejected these calls for resignation stating that he was “elected by the people of the state” and not by politicians and said he is not “going to resign because of allegations.”
Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s administration understated the number of nursing home patients who died by more than 50%.
