Lalu Prasad Yadav is a veteran politician, who started his political career with humble beginnings and rose to become a prominent politician of India.  He is a former Chief Minister of Bihar. He has been the Bihar supremo of nearly two decades.  He is the President of Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).  After being charged in various scams in Bihar, he installed his wife Rabri Devi as Chief Minister of Bihar.

RJD is a prominent ally in the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA), under the Prime Ministership of Dr. Manmohan Singh.  Lalu Prasad Yadav is a Union Railway Minister in this Government.
