U.S. Aid to Nepal to Continue

The U.S. will continue to provide financial aid to the interim Nepali government even though it has accommodated the terrorists Maoists in the administration.

US Ambassador James Moriarty revealed that his government will continue to provide financial aid to the interim Nepali government even though it has accommodated the terrorists Maoists in the administration. However, he said that the group continues to be on its terror list and has not altered their behavior in using intimidation, extortion, and violence to get its way.

Meanwhile, the striking Madhesis of the Terai region agreed to halt their protests for 10 days to give the Home Minister time to investigate the death of 20 protesters. However, they warned that if the government failed to create a "conducive environment," they would resume their strikes and blockades. They did not say what they would consider as "conducive."
