Seeking to generate goodwill, visiting European Parliament President Josep
Borrell Fontelles reiterated the European Union (EU) one-China policy and
appreciated China's rapid growth and increasingly important role in
international affairs.
Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (China's
top legislature) Wu Bangguo is apparently hosting Fontelles and both leaders
agreed to strengthen the friendly ties. They also discussed international and
regional issues but did not disclose what they were.
