Russian President Vladimir Putin said “It is essential to increase
dramatically the volume of our trade and the level of investment [with India],
our cooperation in the energy and other fields, including military-technical
field.”
Speaking at a bi-annual meeting of Russian diplomats, Putin said Russia
intended to strengthen relations with both India and China and described
Russia’s relations with China as “all-embracing” and relations with India as
“friendly.” Putin stressed the need to sustain the growth in Indo-Russian ties
to keep pace with “dynamic development of China and its changing role in the
region and the world.”
