India and Oman expressed keen interest to improve their military ties through
increased interaction between their respective armies that would include
exchanging observers to military exercises and sending more officers to Army
schools in India.
In April 2006, Oman had sent military observers to witness the 'Desert Strike'
exercise in Rajasthan and Oman has invited the Indian army to observe the Gulf
Co-operation Council Exercise in 2007. Oman is also keenly interested in weapon
systems produced by the Indian defense production facilities.
An Oman delegation has also visited numerous defense production units,
training institutions, and the Line of Control (LOC) in the Kupwara sector.
